„Persons (different given names)” means: different combinations of a given name with a byname, not persons proved to have existed. Two namesakes from one family merge here into a single item, and the acts give nothing to tell them apart. An entry naming several families stands beside each of them — because the record names them together, and they must not be separated.

Family trees

Fragments of families assembled from the kinships the acts state outright. One fragment is as much as a single entry, or a group of entries, allows to be joined without guessing — not a whole family tree, only a certain piece of one.

The Strus family — descendants of Stefan Strus

confidence B — 3 acts

A line assembled from 3 acts, linked by persons whose filiation is recorded. Predominant acts: Quittance given to some two dozen people in a suit over damages, for the sum of 180 złp and for the luitum penalty; cancellation of the enforcement clause of a decree; Mutual quittance in a suit over a forcible entry and wounds, for a decree of inquisition and for a summons against five people; Mortgage.

notes and marginalia The settlement embraces not only the parties appearing but also four further co-defendants („tam in se ac aliis in tractam causam intrantes”) – a rare construction extending the effect of the quittance to persons not present. Wednesday after Low Sunday, in the Year of Our Lord 1744.

The noble (Nob.) Jan Ryszkowski, in his own name and in the name of the noble (Nob.) Szymon Strus, for whose ratification he stands surety, being of sound mind and body, deposed that he gives a quittance to the noble (Nob.) Jakub Tchórzewski and to his successors for the simple penalty of fourteen Polish marks, adjudged by a decree of the present office, handed down on the Monday, the vigil of the feast of St Hedwig in the immediately preceding year 1743, likewise for the tower confinement imposed by that same decree, having obtained satisfaction; the enforcement clause of that same decree he cancels.

[Below, the clerk filled the rest of the leaf with the great word „VACUUM”, calligraphed vertically.]

notes and marginalia The tenth mention of tower confinement in the year 1744; the penalty of fourteen marks and the date of the decree (14 October 1743, a Monday – the feria agrees) are identical with those in entries 1262, 1303 and 1336 – on that day the office handed down a series of penal sentences of the same measure. The surname of the party quitted has been read with uncertainty in the manuscript; the reading of the PTG tag for scan 57-049 has been adopted („Jakub Tchórzewski”). The rest of the page the clerk secured with an ornamental „VACUUM”.
