**Revision of the reading („olim” instead of „et”).** The original translation read the word before the father's given name as „et” and so made Wojciech the **son** of Kazimierz. In this chancery the abbreviation **„ol.” (olim)** is written as an „o” with a stroke through the stem and closely resembles „et”; the grammatical case decides the matter — the genitive with „filio” means **„to the son [of someone]”**, not „and to the son”. The direction of the filiation is confirmed by entries 857 and 997 („Wojciech Karwowski zwany Mścich, syn zm. Kazimierza Karwowskiego Mścicha”). The pattern has been checked against the manuscript: entry 246 (scan 56-043, „Antonio Domaszowski … **Casimiri filio**”) and entry 302 (scan 56-051, „Stephano Jasienski **ol. N. Pauli filio**”).

Stanisław Krasuski called Starus in favour of the late noble (Nob.) Katarzyna Celińska, the deponent's mother, out of the maternal estates — adjudged by a decree of condescension of the present office, issued on the ground of the estate of Gołowierzchy on the Friday after Low Sunday in the Year of Our Lord 1743 between the deponent and the present parties quitted, and lodged with the records of the present office by way of oblation on the Thursday after Jubilate Sunday of that same year, together with the luitum penalty of fourteen Polish marks and a separate sum of ten Polish złoty — and likewise for the suit and action brought on account of the dowry — and this after the sufficient satisfaction received in accordance with the tenor of the decree invoked; and the enforcement clause of the decree, both as regards the sum of two hundred Polish złoty and the luitum penalty and as regards the separate sum of ten Polish złoty, she extinguishes and annuls; and, satisfaction having been made to the decree, she renounces and abdicates the paternal and maternal estates for ever. Moreover, to the above-named Kazimierz called Synowiec, now Nakonieczny, Wawrzyniec and Tomasz called Zychowicz, the Krasuskis, and to Jan and Agnieszka née Morawska Celiński, husband and wife, and to their successors — she makes over and cedes her whole and entire right, that is the sums separately apportioned by the decree and in fact paid to her by them, giving power to take up those sums together with the luitum penalty from whomsoever they are lawfully due, to hold the estates charged with them and to pursue them at law, should need arise.
notes and marginalia The entry begins on scan 082 (f. 79r) and ends on scan 083 (f. 79v) – the two parts have been joined. A note by the clerk: „Ignarus personae litterarum”. In the margin later notes: „1745” and „cessio od P. Stanisława Krasuskiego”. The Friday after Low Sunday 1743 = 26 April 1743; the Thursday after Jubilate Sunday 1743 = 9 May 1743. A discrepancy: the first name of the first husband of Agnieszka née Morawska I read here as Antoni, and in entry no. 523 as Jan – both appear in the tags for scan 083 (Antoni Krasuski and Jan Krasuski).

Elżbieta Stocka, and to his successors his estates, that is his whole and entire inheritance share – with the plots, the buildings and structures of every kind, gardens, orchards, arable, fields, meadows, woods, forests, groves, thickets, scrub, lakes, marshes, springs, rivers, ponds, fishponds, mills and millers, taverns and tavern-keepers and breweries, the subjects and inhabitants – both those who have run away, with free recovery of them from wherever they may be, and those now settled – with their wives, children, cattle and swine, with the whole household property and the farm equipment, and likewise with the arable, the fields and the meadows held and possessed by them, with the days of labour service, with the day and night gang-work, with the dues, the levies and all the duties long since performed by them and with the whole subject obedience – keeping and excepting nothing for himself or for his successors – situated and lying in the hereditary village of Celiny, in the Lublin voivodeship and in the present Łuków land, he gives and donates by way of a perpetual donation (donatio perpetua). He consents to a joint intromission, and this under the land-law damages and under the degrees of the present court or anywhere else.

notes and marginalia The PTG tags for scan 125 (recovered in a later download) confirm the persons of the entry. The PTG tags for scan 125 confirm the persons (Franciszek and Daniel Kamieński, Katarzyna and Tomasz Celiński, Marek Celiński Wilczoch, Jan Celiński Wilczoch, Elżbieta Stocka Celińska) and the villages of Celiny and Gołowierzchy. The right-hand margin of f. 121v is folded and torn – the ends of several lines are illegible, and the formula enumerating the appurtenances is therefore given in the part that can be recovered. The village of Celiny is confirmed by the tags for scan 126. The reading of the office of Tomasz Celiński („Subjudex Terrestris Lucoviensis”) is uncertain.

notes and marginalia The entry contains two interlinear additions (beside the given name of the deponent's father and beside the surname of the party quitted – „Pawłowski”), which makes it difficult to establish the form of the surnames beyond doubt. The PTG tags for scan 133 name „Jana Wysokińskiego” and „? The noble (Nob.) Teresa Celińska, [daughter] of the late noble (Nob.) Marcin Celiński and wife of the noble (Nob.) Kazimierz Nurzyński, and to her successors, as regards the sum of twenty Polish złoty out of the original sum of twenty-six Polish złoty – first and originally inscribed by the said late noble (Nob.) Kazimierz Nurzyński to the noble (Nob.) Łukasz Celiński by way of an obligatory inscription upon certain estates lying in the hereditary village of Celiny, before the present records on the Monday after Low Sunday in the Year of Our Lord 1730; thereafter ceded by the noble (Nob.) notes and marginalia A rare example of a retrocession: the sum returns to the hands of the person from whom it had earlier gone out. They consented to intromission forthwith and promised warranty, and this under the land-law damages and under the present court.
The deponents unlettered (in the source: „Ignari scribendi litterarum”) – the entry without signatures.
notes and marginalia The most elaborate entry of this batch in genealogical terms: five co-successors after the childless Stefan Krasuski make over their inheritance shares to two acquirers. The entry documents three generations and the two marriages of Jadwiga Celińska, as well as a rare formula of assistance – in view of her husband's sickness the woman deposing is assisted by her son of the first marriage. There are no PTG tags for scan 135, and the tangle of given names repeating within the family (two Annas Karwowska, two men named Wojciech) means that some relationships have been reconstructed from the Latin formulas – any refinements would call for a comparison with other entries of this family. The name of the village „Krasuse Gołowierzchy” is written here legibly – it settles the doubt at entry no. 796.

Szymon Celiński by way of an obligation upon certain estates lying in the hereditary village of Celiny, before the present records on the Saturday, on the vigil of the feast of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the Year of Our Lord 1734; thereafter ceded by the noble (Nob.) Jan Celiński, son of the said Szymon, and Krystyna Kożuchowska, husband and wife, to the well-born (Gen.) Marek Celiński, vicegerent of Łuków, before those same records on the Friday, on the very day of the feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross in the Year of Our Lord 1741; and then yielded up by that same well-born (Gen.) Marek Celiński to herself and to her husband before those same records on the Tuesday before the feast of the Purification of the Blessed Virgin Mary of the past year 1742 – and now in fact raised from the hands of the cessionaries of this day. She consents to intromission forthwith, and in particular into the thing and person of herself and of her orphans; and this under a penalty of twenty-four Polish złoty and under the present court.
notes and marginalia The sum of twenty-four złoty passes through four hands in the course of nine years – a good example of the circulation of a small debt. The persons and the village of Celiny agree with the PTG tags for scans 142–143 (the bynames „Wilczoch”, „Marcinowicz”, „Spodarek”, „Łabędź”). The date of 1734 tallies (20 November 1734 was a Saturday), but the date of 1741 does not: the feast of the Exaltation of the Cross, 14 September 1741, fell on a Thursday, not on a Friday – the formula is set down in an abbreviated form, and the year may be called into question.

Marian Mościcki, for the double penalty of fourteen Polish marks, further for the tower confinement, adjudged by a decree of the present office in the terms for complaints, that is in the courts of the office's suits, handed down between the deponents on both sides on the Friday after the feast of the Assumption of the Most Glorious Virgin Mary in the Year of Our Lord 1743 [16 August 1743];
and the noble (Nob.) Marian Mościcki to the nobles (Nob.) Józef and Jadwiga Celiński, husband and wife, and further to the nobles (Nob.) Wojciech and the second Wojciech Szaniawski – for the double penalty of fourteen marks, further for the penalty and payment (luita) of three Polish marks, as also for the tower confinement, adjudged by a decree of condescension issued upon the ground of the estate of Sokule on the Thursday, the vigil of the feast of St Nicholas the Bishop in the Year of Our Lord 1743 [5 December 1743], and lodged with the records of the present office by way of oblation –
they give a quittance, and the enforcement clause, as far as the remitted marks and the tower confinement are concerned, they cancel.
[The deponents] unlettered.
notes and marginalia An interesting onomastic record: the manuscript names „Albertum et alterum Albertum Szaniawskie”, that is two namesakes – Wojciech and the second Wojciech Szaniawski; the PTG tag for scan 166 notes only one „Wojciecha Szaniawskiego”. Both dates verified (16 August 1743 – a Friday; 5 December 1743 – a Thursday, the vigil of St Nicholas). Jadwiga Celińska appears in the tags with a question mark („Jadwiga Celińska?”) – the manuscript confirms the given name.

notes and marginalia Verified: St Prisca, 18 January 1744, fell on a Saturday, and the Thursday before it was 16 January 1744. notes and marginalia Verified: the feast of SS Fabian and Sebastian, 20 January 1744, fell on a Monday. The name of the river has been read on the scan: „ad fluvium Kanna”. The given names of Hiacynt Leszczyński, Jan Leszczyński and Teodor Szaniawski are not in the PTG tags for scan 57-006 (the tags note Jakub and Kazimierz Leszczyński Sobiechowicz) – the discrepancy has been noted; Andrzej and Tomasz Celiński and the village of Leszczanka agree with the tags.
**A revision of the reading („olim” instead of „et”).** The original translation read the word standing before the father's name as „et” and made Andrzej the **son** of Tomasz. In this chancery the abbreviation **„ol.” (olim)** is written as an „o” with a stroke through the shaft and is deceptively like „et”; the grammatical case decides — the genitive with „filio” means **„synowi [kogoś]”**, not „i synowi”. The direction of the filiation is confirmed by entry 829 („Andrzej Celiński, syn Tomasza”). The pattern has been checked against the manuscript: entry 246 (scan 56-043, „Antonio Domaszowski … **Casimiri filio**”) and entry 302 (scan 56-051, „Stephano Jasienski **ol. N. Pauli filio**”).

localities in the entry the village of Celiny
The nobles (Nob.) Piotr and Bartłomiej Celiński, brothers german to one another, sons of the late noble (Nob.) Wojciech Celiński Mysław, and grandsons of the late noble (Nob.) Marcin [Celiński] — in their own name and in the name of the nobles (Nob.) Franciszek, Marianna and Katarzyna Celiński and of the noble (Nob.) Gabriel Celiński Mysław, brother and sisters german to one another, not present at this act, for whose ratification they stand surety — freely deposed and acknowledged that they give a quittance to the well-born (Gen.) Marek Celiński, son of the noble (Nob.) Aleksander Celiński, and to his successors – for two sums, and namely:
the first of eighty Polish złoty, inscribed by the late nobles (Nob.) Aleksander and Anna née Bystrzycka, husband and wife [Celiński], to the said [grandfather] and to the noble (Nob.) Marcin Celiński before the present records on the Friday before the day of St Valentine the Martyr in the Year of Our Lord 1708, by way of mortgage upon certain estates situated in the hereditary village of Celiny, and now taken up;
and the second of forty Polish złoty, inscribed by Kazimierz and Aleksander Celiński to them, the deponents, before the present records on the morrow of the feast of St Luke the Evangelist in the Year of Our Lord 1720 upon all their estates by way of a simple debt — and coming out of an original sum of one hundred and sixty Polish złoty, falling due after the late well-born (Gen.) Aleksander Jankowski;
and this by reason of its payment on this day by the present party quitted, as the perpetual acquirer of the right to those same estates; and of their whole and unimpaired right as to the said sum of forty Polish złoty they yield up and withdraw.
[The deponents] unlettered.
notes and marginalia The entry passes to the right-hand page of scan 57-043 (f. 42r). Inscriptions **thirty-six and twenty-four years old** (1708, 1720) reckoned by a single act – a further example of the long endurance of small burdens in this neighbourhood. The sum of 40 złp comes out of a greater, original sum of 160 złp after Aleksander Jankowski, the same man who appears in entry 1310 – the connection is confirmed. All the persons and the cognomen „Mysław” agree with the PTG tags for scan 57-043.
