„Persons (different given names)” means: different combinations of a given name with a byname, not persons proved to have existed. Two namesakes from one family merge here into a single item, and the acts give nothing to tell them apart. An entry naming several families stands beside each of them — because the record names them together, and they must not be separated.

Caveat. A contradiction in the corpus (Dziewulski): the same pair is recorded in both directions — entries 180, 1022: father Jan, son Jan; entries 180, 1022: the other way round, father Jan, son Jan. Either one of the two is a misreading, or a grandfather and a grandson bore the same given name; only the manuscript can settle it. The node “Jan Dziewulski” also takes in entries 179, 288, in which the source does not call him anyone’s father — a namesake of his may have appeared there. This does not undermine the filiation, but the source does not confirm that these acts belong to him.

notes and marginalia Beneath the entry an autograph signature: „Jozef Jastrzebski”. **Revision of the reading („olim” instead of „et”).** The original translation read the word before the father's given name as „et” and so made Andrzej the **son** of Kazimierz. In this chancery the abbreviation **„ol.” (olim)** is written as an „o” with a stroke through the stem and closely resembles „et”; the grammatical case decides the matter — the genitive with „filio” means **„to the son [of someone]”**, not „and to the son”. The direction of the filiation is confirmed by as many as eight entries (4, 643, 644, 645, 839, 1168, 1366, 1564), in which Andrzej Radomyski Sędek is the **son of the late Kazimierz**. The pattern has been checked against the manuscript: entry 246 (scan 56-043, „Antonio Domaszowski … **Casimiri filio**”) and entry 302 (scan 56-051, „Stephano Jasienski **ol. N. Pauli filio**”).

localities in the entry the Łuków castle court office

The nobles (Nob.) Jan Dziewulski, son of the late Paweł, on the one side, and Mateusz Jastrzębski, son of the late Jan, on the other side, being of sound mind and body, deposed that mutually and reciprocally they give a quittance to one another and to their successors – for whatsoever protestations, lodged mutually before the present records against one another on account of acts of violence, assaults and injury to honour (honoris laesio), further for the reports entered in that matter, as also for all and each of the claims arising up to this day – by reason of the full satisfaction mutually rendered to one another; and the protestations and the relations they cancel.

[The deponents] unlettered.

notes and marginalia „Honoris laesio” – injury to noble honour – is a matter rarely noted in this register; the disputes usually concern acts of violence and wounds. The persons agree with the PTG tags for scan 168 (the tag gives „Mateusz Jatrzębski”, an evident slip for „Jastrzębski”).

notes and marginalia The entry begins at the foot of f. 165v (scan 169) and ends on f. 166r – one of the most elaborate boundary descriptions in this part of the register: eight separate parcels in two villages, described by the baulks of eight neighbours. The measures are given in the Old Polish manner in fractions („semiduos”, „semitres”, „semiquatuor sulcos” – one and a half, two and a half, three and a half strips). The villages of Iwanów and Modrzew and all the persons agree with the PTG tags for scan 169; the names of the roads and of the hamlets have been read with reservation.
