The Łuków castle court records 1743–1744
persons 5 · entries 17 · years 1743–1744
Dear reader, remember that this is an AI study, that it may contain errors; treat it as indicative and verify it for yourself.
„Persons (different given names)” means: different combinations of a given name with a byname, not persons proved to have existed. Two namesakes from one family merge here into a single item, and the acts give nothing to tell them apart. An entry naming several families stands beside each of them — because the record names them together, and they must not be separated.
The persons of this surname in the acts, with the number of entries and with the kinships the record states outright.

The localities beside which the acts name this surname, with the number of entries.
Fragments of families assembled from the kinships the acts state outright. One fragment is as much as a single entry, or a group of entries, allows to be joined without guessing — not a whole family tree, only a certain piece of one.
confidence B — 4 acts
A line assembled from 4 acts, linked by persons whose filiation is recorded. Predominant acts: Mortgage; mortgage of arable.

localities in the entry Klembów (the village) [it does not appear in the tags for scan 058]
Before the present castle court records of Łuków, having appeared in person, the noble (Nob.) Teresa Wojciechowska, daughter of the late noble (Nob.) Jan Wojciechowski called Gwozd [uncertain reading], son of the nobles (Nob.) Stanisław and Marianna, daughter of the late noble (Nob.) Wojciech Klembowski, the Wojciechowski spouses, and begotten of the late noble (Nob.) Jadwiga Paskudzka, widow left by the late noble (Nob.) Stanisław Olędzki, being of sound mind and body, deposed that to the magnificent (Magn.) Roch Antoni, of two names, Klembowski, sword-bearer of the present land, son of the late well-born (Gen.) Marcin Klembowski, begotten of the noble (Nob.) Urszula née Gałęzowska of Targowisko, and to his lawful successors, her estate — fallen to her lawfully, by divine and natural right, by way of succession, after the late noble (Nob.) Marcin Wierzchowski, son of the late noble (Nob.) Stanisław Wierzchowski and of the noble (Nob.) Katarzyna Klembowska, daughter of the late noble (Nob.) Adam Klembowski, brother german of her parent and her own maternal uncle, who departed this world without issue, and concerning the other successors as well — all and each of it, in the plots, the arable, the fields, meadows, woods, forests, groves, rivers, streams and the other appurtenances and appendages of those estates, lying and situated in the hereditary estate of the village of Klembów, with everything — she gives and donates, and she puts it from now into his possession, renouncing every right of her own, and this under the [land-law] penalties.
notes and marginalia An entry with numerous corrections: the first name of the deponent's father was corrected from „Stanisława” to „Jana”; „Woyciechowskich conjugum” was written above the line; the original name of the village was struck out and „Klembów” entered. In the margin a note bearing the date 1743 (largely illegible). The title „Ensifer Terrae Praesentis” (sword-bearer of the Łuków land) is here borne by Roch Antoni Klembowski, whereas in entry no. 330 that same title was read beside Krzysztof Jezierski – a discrepancy in the source, recorded without being resolved. The village of Klembów does not appear in the tags for scan 058.

localities in the entry —
That same noble (Nob.) [Teresa Wojciechowska] deposed that to the magnificent (Magn.) Roch Antoni Klembowski, sword-bearer of the Łuków land, and to his successors, the sum of one hundred and fifty Polish złoty — coming out of an original sum of three hundred Polish złoty, inscribed by the late noble (Nob.) Stanisław Wierzchowski to the late noble (Nob.) Katarzyna Klembowska, the aunt of her parent, by way of a simple debt before the present records on the Monday next after the feast of the holy Apostles Peter and Paul in the Year of Our Lord 1710 [the reading of the year uncertain], and fallen to her after the death of the late noble (Nob.) Marcin Wierzchowski, who died without issue, due and pertaining to her — sufficient and actual satisfaction out of that sum having been received, she cedes and by cession transfers, together with all the conditions of that inscription, giving power to recover the said sum from whomsoever it is lawfully due, to take up what is recovered and to give a quittance for what is taken up.
notes and marginalia The clerk's note: „Ignara personae litterarum” – the deponent (a woman) cannot write. The year of the inscription is read with uncertainty (elsewhere in the register – entry no. 378 – the same inscription is dated in like manner, and the figures of the year are likewise uncertain). The formula „the Monday next after SS Peter and Paul” requires a year in which 29 June fell on a Sunday; the years 1698 and 1710 come into consideration.

Beneath the entry autograph signatures: „Stanisław Choiecki”, „Paweł Choiecki”. In the margin a note with the date 1746. In the text „duas” was struck out. The name of the village and the surname of the castellan's wife of Lublin are read with uncertainty.

The magnificent (Magn.) Ignacy Olędzki, tribune of Łuków, son of the late magnificent (Magn.) Franciszek Olędzki, pantler of Łuków, being of sound mind and body, deposed that to the well-born (Gen.) Mateusz Kobyleński, son of the late well-born (Gen.) [Autograph signature:] Ignatius Olędzki, tribune of the Łuków land, together with the paraphs
notes and marginalia The date of the session verified: 7 September 1743 (the vigil of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary) did indeed fall on a Saturday. The entry shows a donation of encumbered estates: the acquirer receives the inheritance share, but must redeem it from the hands of the possessor (the parish priest of Trzebieszów). A discrepancy with the PTG tag: the tag gives „Maciej Kobyleński”, the manuscript „Mathaeus” (Mateusz). The offices: „Tribunus Lucoviensis” – tribune of Łuków, „Dapifer Lucoviensis” – pantler of Łuków.

notes and marginalia The date of the cession verified: the vigil of the Nativity of St John the Baptist 1738 fell on a Monday, but the manuscript gives „Feria Quarta in Crastino” – that is Wednesday 25 June 1738, and so it has been taken. The feast of St Margaret (13 July 1740) fell on a Wednesday, and the Monday after it was 18 July 1740. The persons agree with the PTG tags for scan 157.

[Autograph signature, in block letters:] MATEWSZ KOBYLENSKI
notes and marginalia The PTG tags for scan 157 name Ignacy Cieszkowski and Ignacy Olędzki separately – the manuscript confirms that these are two different persons: Cieszkowski is the donee, Olędzki the seller. The title of Cieszkowski's starosty is written across the join of two lines at a fold of the leaf and is legible only in part („Capit. …szczelovien”) – [uncertain reading]. At the end of the entry a passage is struck through and illegible. The date of the acquisition verified: 7 September 1743 was a Saturday, the vigil of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

[Autograph signature:] FLORYAN OLĘDZKI
notes and marginalia The protestation and the quittance for it fell on **the same day** – the dispute lasted a few hours. The cancelling formula is strengthened threefold („cassat, mortificat, annihilat perpetuo et in aevum”), which is rare in this register. The signature is calligraphed in capitals. The PTG tag for scan 57-045 wavers between „Florian Olędzki” and „Horian? Olędzki” – the autograph signature decides for Florian.

notes and marginalia A fiscal and military entry very rare in this register: **a deputy of the armoured banner of prince Lubomirski** gives a quittance for taking up, out of the sequestration of the castle court office, a nobleman's share of the **subsidium charitativum** – a tax voted by the Diet, here levied for the army. This is the third mention of public burdens in the year 1744 (cf. 1209 and 1309) and the only one showing the whole road: the taxpayer → the sequestration of the office → the deputy of the banner. The sum: 20 złp. The office of Lubomirski and the person of the party quitted are broken off at the spine of the binding; the PTG tag gives only „? Lubomirski”.
