The Łuków castle court records 1743–1744
persons 4 · entries 5 · years 1743–1744
Dear reader, remember that this is an AI study, that it may contain errors; treat it as indicative and verify it for yourself.
„Persons (different given names)” means: different combinations of a given name with a byname, not persons proved to have existed. Two namesakes from one family merge here into a single item, and the acts give nothing to tell them apart. An entry naming several families stands beside each of them — because the record names them together, and they must not be separated.
The persons of this surname in the acts, with the number of entries and with the kinships the record states outright.
father Jakub Kobyliński
entries 968 969 970
father Jan Kobyliński
entries 969 970
father Józef Kobyliński
entries 970 1901
entries 199 1901
The localities beside which the acts name this surname, with the number of entries.
Fragments of families assembled from the kinships the acts state outright. One fragment is as much as a single entry, or a group of entries, allows to be joined without guessing — not a whole family tree, only a certain piece of one.
confidence B — 2 acts
A line assembled from 2 acts, linked by persons whose filiation is recorded. Predominant acts: Quittance; Donation.
969 · call no. 56/157, f. 153v, 23 October 1743 970 · call no. 56/157, f. 153v–154r, 23 October 1743
confidence A — a single act
The whole structure comes from a single act (entry 1901). Type of act: quittance for a sum awarded by a decree, for the penalty and for dues in grain.
Every entry in which the acts name this surname. With each one: the chancery date in translation, the folio of the register, the kind of act, an outline of the case, and the persons and localities named in the entry.

Szymon Tchórzewski, his nephews, for whose ratification he stands surety – on the other side, being of sound mind and body, deposed that mutually and reciprocally they give a quittance to one another and to their successors: – the well-born (Gen.) Kobyliński to the well-born (Gen.) Tchórzewski – for the penalty of quadruple fourteen Polish marks, on account of the taking away of the estates left after the late well-born (Gen.) Szymon Tchórzewski and of attempted acts of violence; further, for the sum due on account of the reckoning and of the profits taken, which was enjoined to be paid together with two penalties of three Polish marks each; – and the well-born (Gen.) Tchórzewski to the well-born (Gen.) Kobyliński – likewise for the penalty of quadruple fourteen Polish marks, handed down at the instance of the well-born (Gen.) Tchórzewski for delay in the proceedings concerning the possession of the Kobyliński, and for a second, simple penalty of fourteen Polish marks, which the well-born (Gen.) Józef Kobyliński owed to the well-born (Gen.) Marcin Tchórzewski for the taking of rye, likewise together with two penalties of three Polish marks each; all of it adjudged and enjoined to be paid by a decree of compromise (of the arbitration court), issued on the ground of the estates of the village of Tchórzew Ziemiański on the Tuesday after the feast of the Conversion of St Paul the Apostle in the Year of Our Lord 1743, and lodged with the records of the present office by way of oblation on the Thursday, on the very day of the feast of St Valentine the Martyr of that same year – and this by reason of the satisfaction in fact rendered to one another. Moreover, that same well-born (Gen.) Kobyliński cedes the said marks and the sum, paid by the well-born (Gen.) Marcin Tchórzewski for his nephews, giving power to pursue those marks and that sum against those nephews, to receive what is recovered and to give a quittance for what is received.

The magnificent (Magn.) and very reverend (Adm. Rev.) (Perillustris et Adm. Rev.) Andrzej Hieronim Cieciszewski, canon of the cathedral of Chełm, provost and parish priest at Trzebieszów, being of sound mind and body, deposed that he gives a quittance to the provident (Prov.) Rev.) Andrzej Barański, parish priest of Trzebieszów, and the said magnificent (Magn.) Olędzki, tribune of the Łuków land, the defendant, on the one side – further for the inscriptions, the decree, the condemnation and the delivery of the estate [uncertain reading] that followed upon them – for that same entrusted sum of one thousand Polish złoty and for the interest, by reason of its payment, he gives a quittance, and the inscriptions and the whole process he cancels.
[Autograph signature:] Hieronymus Cieciszewski, canon of the cathedral of Chełm
notes and marginalia The date of the cession verified: the vigil of the Nativity of St John the Baptist 1738 fell on a Monday, but the manuscript gives „Feria Quarta in Crastino” – that is Wednesday 25 June 1738, and so it has been taken. The feast of St Margaret (13 July 1740) fell on a Wednesday, and the Monday after it was 18 July 1740. The persons agree with the PTG tags for scan 157.

The provident (Prov.) Mateusz Kobyliński, son of the late provident (Prov.) Jakub, and he of the late Jan Kobyliński, being of sound mind and body, deposed that to the magnificent (Magn.) Ignacy Cieszkowski, starosta [the name of the starosty – uncertain reading], and to his successors he gives and donates his subjects, that is the industrious (Labor.) (labor.) Jakub Żarniak with his wife and his son Tomasz, and likewise Stanisław Szostek with his wife and his sons: Andrzej, a fugitive, and Józef, who remains with him – settled in the estate of Kornica Rzążew, and now, by virtue of the delivery made, remaining in the possession of the magnificent (Magn.) and very reverend (Adm. Rev.) Andrzej Cieciszewski, canon of Chełm, parish priest of Trzebieszów, and acquired by that same man by hereditary right from the magnificent (Magn.) [Autograph signature, in block letters:] MATEWSZ KOBYLENSKI
notes and marginalia The PTG tags for scan 157 name Ignacy Cieszkowski and Ignacy Olędzki separately – the manuscript confirms that these are two different persons: Cieszkowski is the donee, Olędzki the seller. The title of Cieszkowski's starosty is written across the join of two lines at a fold of the leaf and is legible only in part („Capit. …szczelovien”) – [uncertain reading]. At the end of the entry a passage is struck through and illegible. The date of the acquisition verified: 7 September 1743 was a Saturday, the vigil of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
