„Separate entries for persons” means: separate entries of a given name with a surname and a byname, not persons proved to have existed. The same man recorded in four registers is one entry, but two namesakes from the same village are sometimes impossible to tell apart, and over twenty years a parcel could pass to a son of the same name. The hearths given at a collective entry are an equal division among those named — a calculation, not a reading.

No entry from 1775 and 1794. This is the absence of the surname in the cards transcribed so far, not proof that the family was not there then: in the card file the 1794 register covers fewer villages than the others, and the 1775 one sometimes counts a whole starosty in a single entry, without surnames.

A characterisation of the village, not a list of hearths — hence the hearths figure is empty, the numbering „1” editorial. The number in brackets I read as the Roman „IX”, as with the other villages. O83 GIVES NO FORENAME — the surname alone remains, „Potocki”; I do not supply the forename, although Ls.89 on the neighbouring card of Dąbie (card 2) calls the possessor of the Gręzówka lease „Kajetanem Potockim” — that, however, is another card and another source, and so I do not decide the connection. The office is recorded literally after the card: „starosty dymirskiego” → „starosta dymirski” (the starosty of Dymir, in the Kiev voivodeship). The reading of the adjective was checked at tenfold magnification and set beside the neighbouring words: after „dym” stands an „i” with a clear dot, then the wavy „r” of this hand (the same as in „karcz.”, „gręzowskiej”, „Biardy”), then „skiego”. The reading „dymińskiego” I reject — the „ń” would have an acute, and there is none. The word „dożywotniej” is written with a „t” with a crossbar and a dot over the „i” in the ending.

One entry for the whole village, the numbering „1” editorial: the register of 1790 does not divide Dąbie into holdings, but describes the estate and gives one collective figure. ¶ THE EXTRACT TAKES UP THREE LINES, all in BLUE ink (the rest of the card is black); the third line („Folwark Dąbie ze wsią…”) is indented. The break onto the indented line I mark in the text of the extract with a vertical stroke. ¶ 58 HEARTHS, the figure UNDERLINED with a simple stroke, preceded by a short horizontal stroke („- 58”). Checked in the single frame `d-pas3`: there is ONE stroke. In the stitching of the frames it looked like an equals sign, because the strips overlap by about 25 px and the line was doubled with an offset — that was an artefact of the stitching, not the writing of the card. The formula „dymów wiejskich 2giej klasy” is standard in this card index (276 occurrences in `karty.json`); the figure of the class was checked at twentyfold magnification and set beside the ones from the same card („174”, „11”) and from card 2) („o 1 gosp.”): those ones are a plain approach stroke and a stem, whereas here the character has a curled hook at the top, an oblique descent and a horizontal base — it is a „2”, not a „1”. ¶ THE HEARTHS STAND COLLECTIVELY, AND THE CARD DOES NOT WRITE OUT THE BUILDINGS HERE — I do not open the field the breakdown of buildings. The figure takes in „folwark Dąbie ze wsią”, that is the grange together with the village of Dąbie; the second village of the lease, Jagodne, the card does not account for in this figure and gives no separate figure for it. ¶ THE COMPOSITION OF THE LEASE: „należą do niej wsie: Dąbie i Jagodne”. The name „Jagodne” is NOWHERE else in this card index (checked in `karty.json`) — this is its only occurrence. ¶ KAJETAN POTOCKI, STAROST OF DYMIR — the only place on either card where the lessee has his forename given beside his office; O83 on the same card gives the surname alone, and Ls.89 (card 2) again the forename. The office I read as „starosty dymirskiego”: d-y-m-i-r-s-k-i-e-g-o, checked at sixteenfold magnification on both occurrences (T90 and O83) — after „dym” stands an „i”, then an „r” with its characteristic tooth, not an „n”. ¶ A DISCREPANCY BETWEEN THE SIGLA WHICH I DO NOT SMOOTH OVER: here and in O83 the lease is called „dzierżawa Dąbie” and is held by Potocki, starost of Dymir; on card 2) T89, MP and Ls.89 agree in saying that Dąbie belongs „do dzierżawy gręzowskiej”. Two different names for the leasehold unit in two different years; the card does not reconcile them, and neither do I.

A short description of the village, without figures — the hearths figure empty. The extract takes up two lines, both black; the second line („starosty dymirskiego;”) is cut across by the boundary of the frames `d-pas3`/`e-pas4` and was read only from the stitching of the two strips. The line closes with a semicolon; below it, down to the lower edge of the card, there is not one pixel of writing left. ¶ THE CARD GIVES NO FORENAME HERE — „Potockiego” alone. That Kajetan is meant is known from T90 on the same card and from Ls.89 on card 2), but I do not carry that over into the field the given name: I record as much as this extract says. ¶ „dzierżawy dożywotniej” — a lease for life, the same formula as at Trzebieszów („w dożywotniej dzierżawie Józefa Siennickiego”) and at Kąkolewnica („dożywotniej dzierżawy Józefa Antoniego Rudnickiego”). One entry for the whole village, the numbering „1” editorial — the register of 1789 does not break the royal estate up into holdings. THE RECKONING OF THE BUILDINGS CLOSES TO THE HEARTH: 1 manor house + 1 brewery + 2 inns + 24 cottages with 1 householder + 3 cottages without land and garden = 31, in agreement with the underlined total „= 31 dymów”. Beside „dwór” and „brow.” the card sets NO numeral — the ones I take from the reckoning, just as had to be done at Karcze (card 1). In the breakdown of buildings both groups of cottages are added together into one field „chaty” = 27 (24 + 3). A BREWERY AND TWO INNS — the reading is CERTAIN, checked under magnification: „brow.” and „2 karcz.” stand clearly, as separate abbreviations, between „dwór” and „24 chat.”. Kajetan Potocki is named in the opening line of the extract as the lessee for life of the whole lease; I enter him once, at this single entry. THE FIGURE 31 CONCERNS THE VILLAGE OF GRĘZÓWKA ITSELF, not the whole lease, and is three hearths lower than the 34 of T90 (card 1) — this is a discrepancy between the register of 1789 and that of 1790, not an error of reading; both figures are underlined and legible. The difference arises most probably from this, that T90 counts the grange separately (2 hearths), while T89 draws the manor house into the buildings of the village.

Kajetan Potocki I enter at THIS entry only because it is the first — the extract names him in the opening line as the possessor of the WHOLE Gręzówka lease, and not of the grange alone. I do not repeat him at the second entry, so as not to double the person in the index. The title is written here „dymierskiego”, and in O83 on the same card „dymirskiego” — I leave both forms as they stand. The card classes the hearths as „wiejskie 2giej klasy”.

The surname is carried over on this card onto the second line with a division („Po-” / „tockiego”) — it is one word, not an initial. THIS EXTRACT GIVES NO FORENAME (otherwise than T90 and T89, which call him Kajetan) — I leave the given name empty and do not merge the persons between the years. A description of the village from O83, section (IX). Without hearths. A DISCREPANCY OF THE SOURCES TO BE RECORDED, not to be smoothed over: O83 names POTOCKI as the leaseholder for life, whereas MP, T89 and Ls.89 of the same card speak only of the belonging of Klimki to the Gręzówka lease/starosty and name no possessor at all. The two records cannot be reconciled from the card and I correct neither of them.
The card gives no forename — only the surname and the office; I do not add the forename. The office [reading uncertain]: the second line of the extract, „starosty dymirskiego”, runs across the seam between strips c and d of the frame and I read it from the stitching of both strips under magnification; certain are the beginning „dymi-” and the ending „-skiego”, doubtful is the fourth letter (r / n), so „dymińskiego” is also possible. In favour of „dymirski” speaks the fact that the starosty of Dymir (Dymir/Dymer in the Kiev Voivodeship) really existed; I do not, however, stretch the reading to that knowledge and I leave the question mark.

THE CARD GIVES NO FORENAME OF THE LEASEHOLDER — there stands only „Potockiego”; I do not add a forename. The surname is legible, without corrections. THE NAME OF THE OFFICE [reading uncertain]: after „starosty” stands a word which I read as „dymińskiego”; viewed at a fivefold magnification it gives a certain „d-y-m-i-…-s-k-i-e-g-o”, and the disputed letter is the fifth sign — a small loop which this hand writes both as an „n” and (more rarely) as an „r”. If it is an „r”, the word reads „dymirskiego”, that is starost of Dymir (the starosty of Dymir in the Kijów voivodeship), which would be a historically attested office; if an „n” — „dymińskiego”, and an office of that name I do not know. I DO NOT BEND the reading to the more convenient form: I record what stands there („dymińskiego”), and report the discrepancy to the owner of the work. „Dzierżawa dożywotnia” = possession by the right of life tenure, the typical form of holding a royal estate; recorded as the status. THIS IS THE ONLY PERSON NAMED BY SURNAME IN THE WHOLE OF THIS VILLAGE.
