„Persons (different given names)” means: different combinations of a given name with a byname, not persons proved to have existed. Two namesakes from one family merge here into a single item, and the acts give nothing to tell them apart. An entry naming several families stands beside each of them — because the record names them together, and they must not be separated.

Józef Kalicki on the one side and of Stefan Słowik on the other; further, meadows in four places, situated in Przecze – lying in the hereditary estate of the village of Pióry Wielkie, waste, with every right, for the sum of sixty-eight Polish złoty in silver coin, from now for three years, until the feast of St Casimir falling in the year 1746, and thereafter from year to year. He consented to intromission forthwith and promised warranty. And this under a penalty of sixty-eight Polish złoty and the present forum.

The noble (Nob.) Anna Słowikówna, daughter of the late noble (Nob.) Michał Słowik, begotten with the noble (Nob.) Konstancja née Siestrzewitowska, wife of the noble (Nob.) Piotr Pióro, with the assistance of that same husband of hers, being of sound mind and body, deposed that the sum of five hundred Polish złoty — which she received as cessionary, and which the said noble (Nob.) Konstancja née Siestrzewitowska, her mother, yielded up to her before the present records on the Saturday after Jubilate Sunday in the Year of Our Lord 17[..] — already now and in fact to the well-born (Gen.) Stefan Słowik, her brother, and to his successors, for the actual payment of the promised sum, she yields up and cedes with everything.

[Autograph signature of the husband:] Pioro Piotr, małżonek. [The deponent] unlettered.

notes and marginalia The year of the cession of the mother that is cited has disappeared into the spine of the binding – only the formula has been given („sobota po niedzieli Jubilate”), and the year has not been supplied by conjecture. The woman deposes „w asystencji męża” (with the assistance of her husband), in accordance with the land law; her husband signed for her, and she is marked as unlettered. The noble (Nob.) Piotr Pióro, son of the late noble (Nob.) Michał Pióro, being of sound mind and body, deposed that to the well-born (Gen.) Anna Słowikówna, daughter of the late well-born (Gen.) Michał Słowik, his wife, and to her lawful successors he is bound and obliged for the sum of seven hundred Polish złoty by title of a certain, true, just, liquid and simple debt — and this by virtue of the sum taken up from the hands of the well-born (Gen.) Stefan Słowik; which sum he inscribes and secures upon all and each of his estates; and he submits and undertakes to pay that same sum on the first demand of his wife and to lodge it with the present records, and this under a penalty of seven hundred Polish złoty, for which he appoints the present court.

notes and marginalia The entry forms the second half of one property operation: the wife ceded 500 złp to her brother (entry 1173), and the husband secured 700 złp to her upon his estates, including the sum taken up from that same brother. The difference of 200 złp is in the wife's favour – the figures are given as in the source and have not been reconciled. The persons agree with the PTG tags for scan 57-021.

Saturday after Reminiscere Sunday in Lent, in the Year of Our Lord 1744.

The noble (Nob.) Mateusz Radzikowski, son of the late noble (Nob.) Krzysztof [Radzikowski], being of sound mind and body, deposed that to the well-born (Gen.) Stefan Słowik, son of the well-born (Gen.) Michał Słowik, and to his successors two sums, and namely:

the first – of two hundred and fifty Polish złoty, in the first place and originally inscribed by the late noble (Nob.) Jan Radzikowski to the noble (Nob.) Marianna née Korzeniowska, his wife, before the present records on the Monday, on the very day of the feast of St Hedwig the Widow, in the Year of Our Lord 1737, by title of a simple debt; thereafter yielded up by that same noble (Nob.) Marianna née Korzeniowska to the noble (Nob.) Józef Wysokiński before those same records on the Monday after the feast of St Luke the Evangelist in the Year of Our Lord 1738; and finally made over by that same noble (Nob.) Józef Wysokiński to him, the deponent, before those same records on the Tuesday after Cantate Sunday in the Year of Our Lord 1741;

and the second – of fifty Polish złoty, originally inscribed by the above-named late noble (Nob.) Jan Radzikowski to that same noble (Nob.) Marianna née Korzeniowska in the manner described above, and yielded up to him, the deponent, together with her husband by that same act described above, that is on the Tuesday after Cantate Sunday in the Year of Our Lord 1741;

and now in fact taken up from the hands of the present cessionary – he yields up and cedes with everything; and all the rights he transfers. He consented to intromission forthwith, governing himself by the law of the present court, as to the thing and as to his own person, and this under a penalty of three hundred Polish złoty. The present court.

[Below, the clerk calligraphed twice the word „VACUUM”, filling the rest of the page.]

notes and marginalia The reckoning agrees: 250 złp + 50 złp = 300 złp, exactly the amount of the penalty (vadium) reserved at the end of the entry. The dates of the acts cited have been reckoned: the Monday after St Luke 1738 = 20 October 1738 (a Monday) – it agrees; the Tuesday after Cantate Sunday 1741 = 2 May 1741 (a Tuesday) – it agrees. **A discrepancy:** the formula „Feria Secunda ipso die Festi S. Hedvigis Viduae A.D. 1737” does not agree in the reckoning – 15 October 1737 (St Hedwig) fell on a Tuesday, and 17 October (the older date of the feast) on a Thursday; the Monday was 14 October 1737. Both pieces of information have been given, and the contradiction has not been removed. The persons agree with the PTG tags for scan 57-030.
